Over the years artillery systems have varied considerably in their configurations, but post-WW2 and up until the conclusion of the Cold War the two most common delivery options were either towed by truck, or a turreted solution on a fully armoured tracked chassis. A small number of purpose-designed wheeled chassis were developed by the likes of Czechoslovakia (Dana/Zuzana) and South Africa (G6), and while reasonably successful in terms of sales, such designs remained very much in the minority until more recently.
