摘要

I am taking a different approach to this edition of the Electronic Roundup. This column is a direct follow-up to the previous column, "Get Your Head in the Clouds," vol. 30, issue 1, where I explained what it means to move toward cloud computing. Something very interesting has happened since I wrote that column. I found myself having to take my own advice and make a push toward moving my own professional work into the cloud instead of just advising others to do so. To quickly recap, cloud computing is simply using various Internet applications or websites as a storage medium for any type of file. For example, Flickr is a free, cloud-based storage program that lets users upload, organize, and save their digital picture files to the Flickr servers. YouTube follows the exact same model, except that it allows users to upload and share video files instead of picture files.
