the number of users and servers on the internet has increased dramatically over the past few years. Along with the increased use is considerable increase in the variety of applications being tried out on the internet. One very promising application is packet telephony. As users get accustomed to being online on the internet for longer periods of time, it is natural for them to want the desktop personal computer to be their communications vehicle for all media. Coincidentally, the advances in computing power and compression technology have allowed people to create and use packetphones.
