This magnificent volume is the only published one in a series of biodiversity assessments of southern Canada. It is fascinating to compare this volume to an equally impressive companion report on the interior of British Columbia has just been released as an electronic document: G.G.E. Although southeastern Canada (comprising the Gaspe Peninsula and Isles-de-la-Magdaleine of Quebec, plus the provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island) is only a tiny area compared to the interior of British Columbia, and not well known for conservation concerns, its fauna and flora are still impressive and contain both endemics and threatened wildlife.
