At the beginning of September 2009 at the Siberian Scientific Center (Novosibirsk, Akademgorodok), the conference "Chromosome 2009," dedicated to the memory of the significant researcher of chromosomes A.A. Prokof' eva-Bel'govskaya, was held. The aim of this ambitious event was to restart after a 25-year hiatus the regular pattern of national meetings on the structure and functioning of chromosomes the conception of which was closely related to the name of Prokof eva- Bel'govskaya.
