Describes briefly the impact of Information Technology on collection management in libraries and also on the librarian's role. Discusses the factors affecting collection management in libraries and emphasizes the need for change in collection management policy. Provides information about the availability of various electronic formats such as online sources, CD-ROMs, Internet sources and Web sites along with criteria to evaluate them. Discusses the usefulness of subject gateways and compares pricing structures of different e-sources.
