摘要

The present paper addresses the durability of thermally sprayed cermet coatings for application in aqueous environments with or without the influence of erosion. By reference to recent research on a wide range of thermal spray coatings, applied by oxyacetylene spraying and the high velocity oxyfuel process, it is argued that the corrosion behaviour in aqueous environments requires careful consideration when selecting a coating material. The key issues relating to the corrosion behaviour of thermal spray cermet coatings are summarised and potential methods for alleviating what are complex, and often rapidly propagating, corrosion mechanisms are discussed.
