摘要

I don't know how many young lads growing up in the 1950s spent the morning after bonfire night searching for the remains of fireworks, but the small unkempt wasteland where our low-key neighbourhood event was held fascinated me. It was all over but the evidence helped to prolong the experience for just that bit longer… and the discovery of spent rockets after their flight was the ultimate goal. I also used to enjoy seeing the remnants of coloured confetti around our local churchyard as evidence of happy wedding gatherings.
