Following on from the success of my first 'industrial' visit to North Staffordshire, which was recalled in BRJ No. 55, I could not wait to make a return visit to the area. It would have to be on a weekday, in the hope of seeing more of the locomotives at work. An opportunity arose during the second week of the Bolton Wakes holiday, when on 8th July 1958, I again set out for a day in North Staffordshire. Shortly before the start of this holiday I had purchased a motor scooter which would prove more flexible than the local buses.
