In his article in BRJ No. 74, R. Tourret wonders if anyone knows what the 'T.R.' stood for. The answer is Thomas Richard, as evidenced from the tribute to him in the SLS Journal for January 1953. What a comprehensive article and such excellent photographs. What you do not mention, though, is that the double line spur between Reading Junction Box and the Great Western station was built, owned and maintained by the London & South Western Railway who had a small detached P-way gang stationed at Reading to look after it. Presumably it was built to facilitate LSWR goods traffic passing between London and the GWR, and coal traffic passing the other way.
