On 30th November 2010 it will be 75 years since the last train crossed the Buckinghamshire pastures from Brill to Quainton Road along the Duke of Buckingham's tramway. Yet that quiet railway backwater is still held with affection by railway students born long after its disappearance. Perhaps the appeal of the rustic tramway is heightened by being included and mapped as such an unlikely outpost of the London Transport system, resulting in the sight of a London Transport liveried 'A' class 4-4-0T weaving its way through trees and hedges with a single coach and a couple of wagons. Another factor is surely the romantic allure of a single beckoning track crossing the road and heading off across the fields.
