An increasing amount of services and data information are being provided by the said companies in addition to traditional programme channels which the television of the future, as a "multimedial service station", well be able to transmit in a mobile and location-independent manner. It is important in this context that the electronic programme guide (EPG) remains unchanged and that its function is fully supported by the hard-and soft- ware offered by eachmanufacturer.
