In todays utilities market, companies are feeling the pressure to make any changes possible to produce competitive advantages, including cutting costs, creating more efficient processes and downsizing the workforce. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment in the electric power generation, transmission, and distribution industry is expected to decline by about 15 percent over the 2008 to 2018 period. Even though employment is expected to decrease, the demand for energy will not.
