Utilities for the first time in 2010 recorded, on average, more than 10 percent of customers receiving and paying their bills electronically, according to a recent report from industry research firm Chartwell. As Randy Phelps, COO of payments processing company BillingTree explains, as the move towards electronic bill presentment and payment (EBPP) progresses, 2011 will see a sharp increase in adoption as utilities begin to integrate innovative ways of applying the Internet and mobile phones to provide customers with more convenient, flexible and timely ways to make payments.
