Today's power plants face a threat from intruders they'll never see coming, coordinated from possibly thousands of miles away through a cyber terrain that can throw power generation and transmission operations into utter chaos.rnMost cyber attacks on power plants prey on the vulnerability of adopted open architecture and networks to facilitate easy operation, convenient maintenance, and asset management of their facilities. In fact, the same controls and automation systems that can optimize a power plant's performance, can make it susceptible to malicious and very costly cyber attacks.
