For years, environmentalists have been saying that Green Power's low-environmental-impact electricity is good for the planet because it's generated using renewable energy resources, such as wind, solar, biomass, and low-impact hydroelectric. But now, a steadily growing number of commercial and industrial companies are realizing that incorporating Green Power into their energy portfolios can be good for business too. Until recently, corporate energy buyers have been reluctant to include Green Power options in purchasing strategies. Many have viewed it as costly―especially companies that operate in highly competitive markets, and for which cost control is critical. But the approaches now being used to measure return on investment are changing. A number of organizations are beginning to take a more qualitative approach to the way they measure return-on-investment (ROI.)
