As part of the diploma project, an experiment was carried out to minimize the resulting primary airborne sound component, which is produced by the standardized forge. When measuring the impact sound in a building, the hammer mechanism is placed in a room (the so-called transmission room). It produces impact noises with small hammers. The resulting impact sound passes through the walls, ceilings and floors and finally reaches the receiving room in which the sound level meter is located. The problem with such measurements is that through the hammer mechanism, which strongly knocks on the ground, also creates an airborne sound, the so-called primary airborne sound. This can penetrate holes in the wall, breakthroughs or other structural weaknesses such as a door, from the transmission room into the receiving room and thus influence the measurement in a negative way. The aim of the diploma project is to answer the question whether and in which frequency bands the disturbing, primary airborne sound component can be reduced with the help of specifically developed shielding housings.
