Architect and Engineer: A Study in Sibling Rivalry is a collection of essays bundled by virtue of the questions the author asks. How and why did architecture and engineering split into two professions? Is the way they separated centuries ago the same as it is now? What was the historical relationship between the participants in a building's design and construction? How are each of them responsible for the process of making buildings today? Andrew Saint examines these complex questions in many ways and from standpoints that will interest scholars and practitioners interested in architecture, structural engineering and construction, and their histories.
