The Port of Tyne is contributing towards new biomass facilities as it seeks to offset a slump in coal volumes through the UK port. The new terminal will handle wood pellets for Lynemouth Power Limited (LPL), which is converting the former Al-can power plant in southeast Northumberland from coal to wood pellets.
