L'étude du précambrien et du paléozoïque de la partie Nord de la Bretagne permet une bonne connaissance du socle qui se prolonge sous le bassin parisien et en particulier le Pays de Caux. Elle permet aussi de mieux comprendre les rapports entre ce socle et la couverture sédimentaire phanérozoïque. Par ailleurs, ces roches magmatiques, métamorphiques et sédimentaires azoïques nécessitent souvent utilisation de la datation absolue qui se révèle parfois difficile. Enfin cette région montre les plus anciennes roches de France (2 G.a.).%The study of the precambrian and paleozoic rocks of the northern part of Brittany in France provides a good knowledge of the basement which can be found under the Parisien basin and especially under the "Pays de Caux". It also facilitates the understanding of the connexions between this old basement and the phanerozo'ic cover. These azoic, magmatic, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks very often need the use of the absolute datation, which is sometimes difficult. The oldest rocks of France (2 G.a.) are found in this part of France.
