Two pot experiments were conducted in the halophytic green house of the National Research Centre, Dokki, Giza to study the effect of irrigation with diluted seawater (12.50%, 25.00%, 37.50% and 50.00%) on photosynthetic pigments content, soluble carbohydrates content, crude protein content, fresh weight, dry weight and productivity of three halophytic plants (Sporobolus virginicus (Smyrna), Leptochloa fusca and Salicornia europaea and a glycophytic leguminous one (Medicago sativa). Increasing seawater concentration to the level of 25% and 37% (moderate salinity) generally increased photosynthetic pigments content, soluble carbohydrates contents, crude protein content, fresh weight, dry weight and productivity of the halophytic plants at the different cuttings particularly with Leptochloa fusca . On the other hand raising the level of saline water used for irrigation to the level of 50% (high salinity) adversely affect these parameters for all plant types except that of Salicornia europaea.
