A new species of the genus Meractaea Serene, 1984, is described and illustrated from Japan. Metactaea takunan sp. nov. can be distinguished from congeners by the more rugose regions of the carapace and the shape of the first male gonopod. Meractaea takunan is distributed along the Kuroshio Current and its counter current.
