摘要

High concentrations of heavy metals are present in many sources of wastewater and numerous studies have found them to be toxic to aquatic organisms especially fish species. Accumulated in fish, they can lead to redox reactions, generating free radicals especially reactive oxygen species (ROS). However, aquatic organisms have evolved defences to protect them against damages of oxyradical production. Thus, antioxidant enzymes such as catalase, glutathione s-transferase (GST), glutathione reductase (GRd) are induced in response to ROS production. The antioxidant response in fish can be modulated by natural environmental influences such as photoperiod, thermoperiod... In the present study, we studied the effect of a parasitose on the fish antioxidative response to a metallic environmental pollution. We examined a carp population coming from a local fish breeding and constituted by two kinds of fish : healthy or carrying an intestinal parasite : Ptychobothrium sp. We exposed these two groups to copper and assessed the activities of antioxidant enzymes (catalase, glutathione S-transferase, glutathione reductase) in the liver and the head kidney. An increased antioxidant response (Catalase, GST and GRd activities in liver and GST in head kidney) was observed in carp parasitized by Ptychobothrium sp. compared to healthy fish. This response might be linked to an increase in host metabolic activity related to the presence of parasite. When carps were maintained in copper-containing water, the antioxidant activities in liver decreased in comparison with control. This decrease in enzymatic activities observed was less pronounced in parasitized than in healthy fish. However, no significant effects of copper treatment was observed in most of the antioxidant enzymes in head kidney. This research demonstrated that a parasitic infection like Ptychobothrium sp. can stimulate some components of the fish antioxidant system and modulate the antioxidant response of heavy metal exposed fish.
