A rare roadworthy survivor of a once numerous type of Plaxton-bodied Bedford has returned to the care of the Cambridgeshire family that owned it for 23 years. Plaxton Embassy-bodied 519 SLG, a petrol-engined Bedford SB3, was new to Thornley of Woodley, Cheshire in 1961 and passed to Miller Brothers of Foxton in 1969. It remained there until sold to Fowlers of Holbeach Drove after Cambus acquired the Miller business in 1992. Fowlers used it as a heritage vehicle, then sold it to preservationist Steve Cook on the Isle of Wight in 2003. Andrew Miller of the original Miller family acquired it last year and, having found suitable covered storage, transported it back to Foxton on 24 October, when this picture was taken.
