Part of our responsibility as teachers of business communication courses is to be knowledgeable about new directions in research-both the questions such research is intended to address and the areas of inquiry that are perceived as relevant to our field. In this issue of the column, the recipient of the 2008 Association for Business Communication Outstanding Dissertation Award, Linda Burak Gretton, provides a synopsis of her investigation of two industries that are quite visible in the commercial world: biotechnology and pharma-ceuticals.
