摘要

The subject of business attire in the 21st century demands intercul-tural know-how and acceptance of difference. Globalization has complicated the issue as men and women do business across the planet and accordingly need an open mind and varied wardrobe. Being aware of how to dress is part of effective communication; we have to take purpose and target audience into account at all times. Dress and other nonverbal messages speak volumes about identity and attitude. "Being attentive to, and mindful of, the impact you have on others, and their impact on you, helps you to become a far more skilled and competent communicator" (Grant & Borcherds, 2008, p. 273) and undoubtedly more successful in business transactions, whether in the developed or developing world, formal or informal sector, at home or abroad.
