Big Data may be even bigger than you think. Technology and services related to Big Data are expected to grow 27 percent annually and exceed $32 billion by 2017, according to a recent International Data Corp. forecast. Mixing traditional data sets with social media data, browser logs, text analytics and sensor data, Big Data has been embraced by everyone from financial institutions trying to prevent fraud to healthcare networks improving the quality of patient care. Data is even improving the quality of our leisure time these days. For sports fans and those who congregate at arenas for concerts and other events, data is proving highly effective in delivering the kind of food, beverage, souvenirs and experiences they desire.
