VM ware wants to make cloud easy, and believes IT departments are more likely to adopt public cloud in greater numbers if they're using the applications, skills and management tools they already trust. With the launch of a new laaS solution, vCloud Hybrid Service, VMware promises its customers ease of use and rapid deployment, because the public cloud infrastructure will be absolutely compatible with the on-premises infrastructure. As a result, VMware delivers both the agility expected by business, and the security and reliability IT demands. "Customers say they want the benefits of a public cloud environment, but can't afford the risk, cost and time of starting over," says Bill Fathers, VMware's Senior Vice President and GM, Cloud Services, citing cost roadblocks such as having to rewrite applications for cloud deployment and staff training; and concerns about compliance, reliability and security.
