For hundreds of years, giant ships were shrouded in romance and mystery. Little of that romance has survived in an age where information is everything, and bits traverse the planet at the speed of light. That's a pity, for ships are more vital to the flow of goods around the world than ever before. Amid a boom in global trade, the schooners of yesteryear have been replaced with steel-plated freighters that dwarf most other man-made structures. South Korea is the source of some of the largest of these sea-going behemoths.
