Tphe recent spate of books on masculinity, which cover the topic in all its traditional guises, have a tendency to focus on the broader themes that typically attract writers on masculinity. This focus leans towards engaging with and a critique of the notion of hegemonic masculinity. Most of this selection of American, British, and Canadian works examines elements of white heterosexual masculinity as if in reaction to a dominant set of norms and in an attempt to reposition work on gender.
