摘要

Globalization is here; it cannot be stopped. It is a good thing since it should move the planet to a more prosperous world with more customers all over the place (if we can say so!). The question now is how we can stay competitive in such a new world. It is essential that we emphasize innovation, creativity. As competition increases, the most adaptable to change will be the ones that will survive (to quote Charles Darwin about species evolution). In talking about electrical and computer engineering (ECE) curricula, we note that globalization will affect our recruitment and retention. For instance, foreign students will no longer be as interested in coming to our countries, and they will be more interested in returning to their countries after earning their degrees, with a net loss for our countries. This phenomenon will increase as the standard of living increases in foreign countries.
