The number of Smart ID projects around the world is increasing. One of the most hotly debated and controversial schemes is in the UK. However, behind the controversy of the National ID card project lies some practical challenges that are yet to be discussed in detail. So far absent from the recognised list of challenges is how to manage the cards once in circulation, especially if they are multi-application cards. Drawing on the company's experience in projects such as the Hong Kong ID card, Cath Rawcliffe, head of eID at ACI Worldwide tells CTT about the practical considerations involved in living with e-ID.
