Eads concedes on A400M: EADS has extracted an additional 10% contribution from the European nations above the €20 billion contract for the development and production of 180 A400M airlifters. That's €2 billion. In addition, the nations have agreed to advance a further €1.5 billion, to be reclaimed as a levy on future export sales, and to accelerate pre-delivery payments over the next four years. The company has already written off €2.4 billion, and said it would now take a further charge of€ 1.8 billion. That brings the total to €27.7 billion. But the company admitted that a further €3.6 billion of its own money is at risk, if new management efficiencies on the A400M are not realized.
