The study proposes automated cataloging of bookbindings using the MARC 21 format. The work begins with an introduction of the MARC 21 format, followed by the objectives such as the creation of a description for artistic bindings and their adaptation to the aforementioned codified format. The methodology used is based on a first description which has been adapted for use in the Collective Catalog of Artistic Bindings (CCEA). This proposal has been developed in codified form with MARC 21 labels for the description of bindings.
