The researchers extracted a disproportionate stratified randomsample from 40 years of thesis bibliographic records atConcordia University in Montreal, Quebec. Match rates for thesisauthors in the LC/NACO Name Authority File and inCanadiana Authorities were examined. ProQuest digitization ofolder theses, the creation of an institutional repository, themove to electronic theses and dissertations in 2011, and theimplementation of vendor-assisted authority control in 2017impacted bibliographic records. In addition to the dearth ofmatches in general, results uncovered false matches and significantchanges to Library and Archives Canada thesis authoritycontrol practices over the years.
