摘要

The author has made several comparisons between the training of AFV crewmem-bers and Air Crewmembers above, with caveats along the way about the comparative difficulty between the two (flying a helicopter is, in fact, much harder than driving a tank). To clarify, this paper is not arguing that AFV crewmen must be cut from the same cloth as the officers and warrant officers of Army Aviation. This paper has attempted to present the similarity in challenges that are and will be faced by AFV crewmen over the next decade of modernization, as well as the challenges the Aviation Branch deals with regularly. The Army can apply many of the Aviation Branch's practices of training and recruiting to the motorized and mechanized force to reduce the challenges to readiness that will result from forthcoming modernization efforts.
