Is the United States really losing power to developing countries, even China? Most think that there has been a historic power shift that will only work to the disadvantage of the Western economic powers. But Robert Wade, one of the best contemporary economic historians around, argues that this is a myth. He says the West has not ceded power regarding economic governance-not even close. And it is not for the good. He presents five case studies to prove his point. His piece is a tour de force.
