摘要

Dr Gerald Kuchling's work has inspired and motivated many chelonian biologists and conservationists, and has contributed to the survival of many endangered chelonian species. For me personally, as a student, and throughout my nearly 20-yr veterinary career, Dr Kuchling's works have provided motivation for many of my endeavors, including captive breeding projects, development of chelonian reproductive surgical techniques, and related publications. The brief personal interactions that I have had with Dr Kuchling over the years have been important formative experiences for me, as I know they have been for many of our colleagues.
