In 2009, the EATP estimates total world trade in PP staple fibers as around 92,000 tons, with a value of around € 130 million. The 68 countries in the EATP database imported 74,300 tons of PP staple fibers in 2009 (excluding the very large volume of intra-EU trade), valued at € 101.6 million. However, there are many small importing countries not covered which in total account for a large trade volume. South Korea is by far the world's largest exporter of PP staple fiber, with exports in 2009 of 37,600 tons (-11 %). Its largest markets are Israel (3,900 tons), Malaysia (3,900 tons), Mexico (3,600 tons), Bangladesh (3,400 tons), Japan (3,100 tons), EU (2,300 tons), Vietnam (2,200 tons), and Saudi Arabia (2,000 tons). Korea has only one PP staple fiber producer, Kolon, a large chemical group.
