Over the past six months I have had the opportunity to sit through over 80 hours of on-line safety training. The first question that comes to mind is why??? The answer to that one is fairly simple, I recently changed jobs and have entered the world of consulting. This means that I have to have a number of safety qualifications to work on various client sites and since these qualifications must be met prior to arriving at the facility, on-line training has been a viable option.rnIn addition to this pre-site training, many of the training programs at the individual sites are now delivered through CBTs (Computer Based Training) which allows them to meet the needs of the various contractors and visitors that arrive on-site. Thus, I have been through nationally based programs, regional programs and local site specific programs over the last six months and have calculated that I have spent over 80 hours in front of a computer screen -just doing basic safety training.
