摘要

This paper is about the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, their efforts to protect workers in Finland, and how their work contributes and affects other parts of Europe and the world. It is based in part on a recent visit to the Institute by the author. The Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (FIOH)~1 celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2005. The FIOH is the national institute specializing in occupational health and safety, which promotes the work ability, and the health and quality of life of the working population of Finland. The Institute's function is the prevention of occupational and work-related diseases and the creation of a safe and healthy work environment. Work initiatives are divided into three main areas: (1) worker's health, (2) the work environment, and (3) the development of work organizations.
