Basic technical solutions are presented for design improvements in air coolers operating under various conditions.rnAir coolers (AC) are basic production equipment that make it possible to solve the cooling problem for a variety of crude products with minimum environmental damage.rnThe VNIINEFTEMASh has developed and mastered the production of various air-cooler designs; this permits selection of optimal equipment for any production process.rnThe AC are subdivided into horizontal, zig-zag, tent, and vertical categories, depending on the configuration of the tube bundle. Equipment with recirculated cooling air have been adopted for the cooling of products with a high freezing point, or products that contain hydrates.rnTwo basic trends in AC construction have been formalized at the present time - the building of traditional large-scale coolers delivered in the form of individual subassemblies and sections, and unitized coolers delivered as several units with maximum availability for service (Figs. 1 and 2).
