摘要

In leak-proofing devices of compressors and pumping units, slit-type rotor seals are used widely in interstage packings and in devices for automatic relieving of axial forces operating on the rotor. In the case of nonrotating rotors, the leak-proofing effect of slit seals, if there is a pressure differential on them, depends upon the degree of loss of potential energy of the medium being sealed as it enters the gap, the viscous friction during flow in the gap, and turbulent mixing of the stream and its sudden expansion as it exits from the slit. In the case of rotating rotors, the leak-proofing effect of such seals is supplemented also as a result of creation by the surfaces of the rotating rotor, on account of viscous forces, of a peripheral (circular) component of the stream that resists escape of the medium being sealed in the direction of the longitudinal axis.
