BMI View: China's military build-up has become a major cause for concern among its Asian neighbours, and has also been a factor in persuading the US to rebalance its military forces to place a great emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region. China's establishment of an Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) on November 2013 (discussed at length separately in this report) has significantly raised geopolitical tensions in the Asia-Pacific region, and risks creating a major backlash against Beijing.
