On March 20, 2007, over 130 experts in lighting protection from China, Japan and Korea gathered in Guangzhou to attend the 4th Asia Lighting Protection and Standardization Forum. This forum was organized by the Guangzhou Lighting Protection Center and jointly sponsored by the Guangzhou Meteorological Administration and the National Technical Commission of Standardization for Lighting Protecti6n. Mr. Chen Guo, the vice mayor of Guangzhou, delivered a speech at the forum's opening ceremony. In his speech, he noted that this forum is very important to the furthering of trilateral cooperation with regard to the economy, science and technology, and culture of the three main participating countries. In particular, he added, as the geographies and climates of these areas are similar, lighting protection is very important in the summer and during the rainy season. For these reasons, standardization plays an indispensable role in the research technology and product development of lighting protection.
