The angular distributions of the fragments such as ~7Be, ~(24)Na and ~(28)Mg produced in the 600 MeV ~(40)Ar + ~(197)Au reaction are measured using off- line γ- ray spectroscopy technique. After subtraction of the contribution of fission process, the width σ_(p⊥) of the transverse momentum distribution is extracted from the analysis of the fragment angular distribution data in the framework of the projectile fragmentation mechanism. The results are compared with the calculated values of Goldhaber statistical model.
