As we have defined it, the long-range business jet class covers a wide range of aircraft. Similar to the light jet class, it is something of a catchall category.rnOur long-range class has three distinct subclasses: one with the global-range Gulfstream G550 and G650 and Bombardier Global Express XRS; a second with the Bombardier Global 5000, the Gulfstream G500, and the Dassault Falcon 7X; and a third with the Gulfstream G450 and the Dassault Falcon 900 series.rnThe G450 is Gulfstream's long-awaited follow-on to the GIV/G400 series. It combines the nose section of the G550 with the wing and tail unit of the G400 and a stretched G400 fuselage tube. The G450 received FAA certification in August 2004 and EASA certification in November 2004. The aircraft entered service in May 2005. Though Gulfstream originally planned to build the G450 and the G400 simultaneously, the company ultimately chose to replace the G400 with the newer model.
