An unfortunate and probably inevitable feature of human history is that important people are sometimes largely forgotten or cease to receive their proper due. Fortunately, dedicated efforts are occasionally made to right such wrongs. Iconic Vision is just such an attempt, in this case to train a well-deserved spotlight on John Parkinson, the most prolific architect of Los Angeles during the period in which it was becoming a modern metropolis. Author Stephen Gee notes that Parkinson has never been the subject of a significant book, and this work is both a biographical treatment and a survey of the architect's most significant achievements.
