A total of 53 students in the third, fourth, and fifth grades found out firsthand what it is like to be a civil engineer. On November 5 at an event organized by the ASCE student chapter at the University of Missouri called Civil Engineering Day for Kids, youngsters aged 8 to 11 participated in a series of hands-on activities and building tours designed to acquaint them with aspects of structural, transportation, environmental, and geotechnical engineering.
