In the ongoing political war in the United States about the proper role of government, some work (or at least talk) tirelessly in the name of reducing government in favor of private entities while others, naturally, fight against this view by arguing that government involvement is needed to check the worst excesses of the private sector. What both sides often ignore is the middle ground occupied by partnerships in which governments and the private sector work together, an approach that can often be forgotten when we are so used to adversarial relations.
